MeetBetr ("we," "us," or "the app") helps friends find a time to get together — dinner, a movie, a trip, anything. This policy explains what we collect, why, and your choices. We built MeetBetr to collect as little as possible.
Information we collect
Phone number. Used to create your account and to let friends connect with you. We verify it with a one-time code via Firebase Authentication.
Display name. The first name you choose so friends recognize you.
Contacts (optional, with your permission). If you choose to invite friends from your contacts, we send the phone numbers in your address book to our server to check which of your contacts are already on MeetBetr. We do not upload names, photos, or other contact details — only phone numbers, and only after you consent. This never happens automatically.
Plan details and responses. The plans you create or are invited to (title, proposed times, location if you add one) and your responses — which times work for you, whether you're going, and how many people you're bringing.
Calendar busy times (optional, off by default). If you turn on Share availability with friends in Settings, we upload only the start and end times of your busy calendar events — never titles, locations, attendees, or any other detail — so MeetBetr can suggest times that work for the whole group. This is off by default; turning it off removes your shared times.
Push notification token. A device identifier used only to deliver notifications about your plans (invites, replies, changes).
Information we do not collect
Your calendar's event details. MeetBetr reads your calendar on your device to check your free/busy time and to add "hold" events for plans you lock in — event titles, locations, and attendees never leave your device. If you opt in to availability sharing, only busy time ranges (start/end) are shared, as described above.
Your full address book. We only ever see phone numbers you've explicitly chosen to check or invite from your contacts — never names, photos, emails, or other contact fields.
We do not collect precise location, advertising identifiers, or browsing activity, and we do not use your data for advertising or cross-app tracking.
How your information is used
We use the information above only to operate the app's core features: signing you in, connecting you with friends, finding and suggesting times for plans, and delivering notifications about your plans. We do not sell your data.
How information is shared
Your display name and your responses to a plan are visible to the other people on that plan. If you opt in to availability sharing, your busy time ranges are visible only to friends you invite to (or are invited by to) a plan — never your calendar event details. Your phone number is used to match you with friends but is not publicly displayed. We do not share your information with third parties for their own marketing.
Service providers
We use Google Firebase (Authentication, Cloud Firestore, and Cloud Messaging) to provide sign-in, store your profile and plans, and deliver push notifications. Their handling of data is governed by Google's privacy policy.
Data retention and deletion
You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete account inside the app. This permanently removes your profile, friend connections, plans, and responses from our database. If you need help, contact us at the email below.
Children
MeetBetr is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
